Imagine your feelings as a number line. Zero is neutral.
I think that if you're capable of feeling "bad: (which is really "uncomfortable")) at a -3, you can only feel "good" at a +3.
If you're afraid to feel uncomfortable, aren't you also afraid to feel too positive?
